Pros and Cons of Prostate Cancer Treatments

Pros: Cons:
For good risk patients, the chance of cure and good results is excellent with all the treatments As pretreatment PSA, tumor grade, and tumor stage increase, the chances of cure with all of the treatments decrease. In other words, the more advanced the cancer is at diagnosis, the more challenging it becomes to obtain a complete cure
Some patients don't even need active treatment, but can pursue a course of "Watchful Waiting" All of the treatments tend to negatively affect sexual function, both erection and ejaculation
For patients who are not "good risk", treatments can be combined to improve effectiveness
