Symptoms
Prostate Cancer in its earliest stages usually has no symptoms and is most commonly detected by an elevation of the PSA blood test or by an abnormality on a digital rectal exam. Sometimes, though, especially if a patient is not being screened for prostate cancer, the following symptoms could be the earliest sign of the disease:
- Difficulty urinating
- Persistent back pain
- Inability to urinate
- Frequency/Urgency
- Blood in the urine
It is important to note that urinary frequency, urgency, and getting up to urinate at night are very common symptoms in older men, and usually do not signal prostate cancer .
