How do you prevent prostate cancer? A healthy lifestyle may not ensure you won't develop prostate cancer at some point in your life, but it certainly can help reduce your risk and slow the development of disease. By eating a nutritious, balanced diet, exercising regularly and getting annual check-ups, you'll help your body stay stronger and at its best.

Balancing that Diet
Did you know that eating a lot of high fat foods regularly may, in fact, increase your risk for developing prostate cancer? Consider substituting more fruits, vegetables and whole grains for high fat foods. Recent studies indicate that the antioxidant lycopene, found in tomato-based foods, peppers, and watermelon may reduce prostate cancer risk. Grapefruit, leafy green vegetables like arugula, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy, and brussel sprouts may promote good prostate health. Soy products and foods high in vitamin E are also being studied as possible methods for reducing men's risk of developing prostate cancer.

Powering Up with Regular Exercise
Because exercise can strengthen your immune system, recent studies indicate a possible connection between active lifestyles and prostate cancer prevention. And did you know that men who exercise regularly tend to have fewer symptoms of BPH than men who rarely exercise? Regular exercise may even prevent BPH from developing.
